“How do you help a baby that loves to sit and avoids floor time because of it? They just scoot on their bottom to get around!”

ANSWER – Many times, a touch of weakness through trunk rotation/core muscles can be the missing piece for these little ones. Trunk rotation, maintaining a side sitting position, and ultimately using those two things to transition out of sitting are often the key to unlocking higher level skills- and this can be a great starting point activity!

Activities To Get Your Baby From Butt Scooting To Crawling

Have babe sit between your legs. This stops them from just twisting their whole body to face it head on.

Encourage them to play with the toy, ideally crossing midline with the arm furthest for them to get the most trunk rotation! If they try to move to side sit and being on their knees, let them go for it! If you need a visual, check out this post!

Even if you only get a minute or two at a time, I promise it adds up and you’ll see big changes!

Hope this helps!
