Do Babies Drool More During Floor Time?

“Is it possible that my baby drools more when they are on the floor? I swear it’s happening!”

ANSWER- You’re not crazy! I don’t know of any definitive research in this area, but anecdotally I can tell you absolutely, when a child is working really hard during a PT session, drooling often drastically increases!

My hypothesis is that when they are working on or focused on activating other big muscle groups, they have to essentially “let go” somewhere, and that is often their oral muscles, thus activating the waterfall! As they rest post-session, that drooling should return to baseline levels. Hope that helps!
