Starting The Early Intervention Process

“How do you start the process of getting an evaluation if your pediatrician says to wait?”

ANSWER- In most places in the US, you actually DON'T need a referral to start the El process. You can use this link to look up your county's contact number-when you call, ask 1) do you need a physician referral or can you self refer as a concerned parent and 2) is there any cost associated with it.

This collab post with @resilientrascals (an incredible pediatrician) is full of tons of information to start/continue the conversation with your pediatrician regarding your child’s motor development!

I also just want to encourage anyone that needs to hear it (myself included)- you know your child best. We all have our areas of expertise, but YOU are the expert on your child. Early intervention is here for a reason, to help, and to hopefully help as early as possible because we KNOW that makes a difference in terms of brain development in the first 3 years of life.

Hope this helps!
