Torticollis & Early Intervention

“Can you do Early Intervention for a Torticollis at 2 mo before motor delays?”

ANSWER- You can get an evaluation through Early Intervention at any age for any concern!

That being said, qualifying for services before 2ish months of age based SOLELY on test scores can be difficult unless there is pretty significant concerns, an automatic qualifying diagnosis, etc.

That being said, I absolutely HAVE qualified babies for early intervention with Torticollis that young using informed clinical opinion, it can just be a bit uncommon because there just isn't much we are "expecting" yet at 2 months and you really have to be able to justify that what you're seeing related to the Torticollis (a musculoskeletal issue but not *necessarily* one that WILL impact development.

BUT, one of the best things about early intervention is that even if your LO doesn't qualify, they'll still give you lots and lots of recommendations specific to your little one to help work through anything present - so if you're concerned, it's always worth it to have it checked out, and the earlier the better for sure!

Hope this helps!
